What the Bible Says About Doubt & Unbelief
"I believe; help my unbelief!"
— Mark 9:24 (ESV)Key Scriptures
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."
"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."
"Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
"Without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him."
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
What Scripture Teaches
Doubt is not the opposite of faith — unbelief is. Doubt is honest wrestling; unbelief is willful refusal.
Faith is not the absence of questions but trust in the midst of them.
Feed your faith with Scripture and starve your doubts of attention. What you focus on grows.
Many great believers doubted: Thomas, John the Baptist, David. God did not reject them.
