Deuteronomy — Chapter 12

1These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

2Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:

3And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.

4Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God.

5But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:

6And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:

7And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.

8Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

9For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.

10But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

11Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:

12And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.

13Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:

14But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

15Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart.

16Only ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water.

17Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand:

18But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto.

19Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth.

20When the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

21If the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

22Even as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat them: the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike.

23Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.

24Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water.

25Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

26Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the LORD shall choose:

27And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.

28Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.

29When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;

30Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

31Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

32What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

1These are the statutes and the ordinances which ye shall observe to do in the land which Jehovah, the God of thy fathers, hath given thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

2Ye shall surely destroy all the places wherein the nations that ye shall dispossess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:

3and ye shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and burn their Asherim with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods; and ye shall destroy their name out of that place.

4Ye shall not do so unto Jehovah your God.

5But unto the place which Jehovah your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come;

6and thither ye shall bring your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill-offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock:

7and there ye shall eat before Jehovah your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee.

8Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes;

9for ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

10But when ye go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Jehovah your God causeth you to inherit, and he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

11then it shall come to pass that to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto Jehovah.

12And ye shall rejoice before Jehovah your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and the Levite that is within your gates, forasmuch as he hath no portion nor inheritance with you.

13Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt-offerings in every place that thou seest;

14but in the place which Jehovah shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt-offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

15Notwithstanding, thou mayest kill and eat flesh within all thy gates, after all the desire of thy soul, according to the blessing of Jehovah thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the gazelle, and as of the hart.

16Only ye shall not eat the blood; thou shalt pour it out upon the earth as water.

17Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy grain, or of thy new wine, or of thine oil, or the firstlings of thy herd or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill-offerings, nor the heave-offering of thy hand;

18but thou shalt eat them before Jehovah thy God in the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before Jehovah thy God in all that thou puttest thy hand unto.

19Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest in thy land.

20When Jehovah thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul desireth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, after all the desire of thy soul.

21If the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to put his name there, be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which Jehovah hath given thee, as I have commanded thee; and thou mayest eat within thy gates, after all the desire of thy soul.

22Even as the gazelle and as the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat thereof: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof alike.

23Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou shalt not eat the life with the flesh.

24Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it out upon the earth as water.

25Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah.

26Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which Jehovah shall choose:

27and thou shalt offer thy burnt-offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of Jehovah thy God; and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of Jehovah thy God; and thou shalt eat the flesh.

28Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the eyes of Jehovah thy God.

29When Jehovah thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest in to dispossess them, and thou dispossessest them, and dwellest in their land;

30take heed to thyself that thou be not ensnared to follow them, after that they are destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How do these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

31Thou shalt not do so unto Jehovah thy God: for every abomination to Jehovah, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods.

32What thing soever I command you, that shall ye observe to do: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

1These are the statutes and ordinances you must be careful to obey as long as you live in the land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given you to possess.

2You must by all means destroy all the places where the nations you are about to dispossess worship their gods—on the high mountains and hills and under every leafy tree.

3You must tear down their altars, shatter their sacred pillars, burn up their sacred Asherah poles, and cut down the images of their gods; you must eliminate their very memory from that place.

4You must not worship the Lord your God the way they worship.

5But you must seek only the place he chooses from all your tribes to establish his name as his place of residence, and you must go there.

6And there you must take your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the personal offerings you have prepared, your votive offerings, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.

7Both you and your families must feast there before the Lord your God and rejoice in all the output of your labor with which he has blessed you.

8You must not do as we are doing here today, with everyone doing what seems best to him,

9for you have not yet come to the final stop and inheritance the Lord your God is giving you.

10When you do go across the Jordan River and settle in the land he is granting you as an inheritance and you find relief from all the enemies who surround you, you will live in safety.

11Then you must come to the place the Lord your God chooses for his name to reside, bringing everything I am commanding you—your burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, the personal offerings you have prepared, and all your choice votive offerings that you devote to him.

12You shall rejoice in the presence of the Lord your God, along with your sons, daughters, male and female servants, and the Levites in your villages (since they have no allotment or inheritance with you).

13Make sure you do not offer burnt offerings in any place you wish,

14for you may do so only in the place the Lord chooses in one of your tribal areas—there you may do everything I am commanding you.

15On the other hand, you may slaughter and eat meat as you please when the Lord your God blesses you in all your villages. Both the ritually pure and impure may eat it, whether it is a gazelle or an ibex.

16However, you must not eat blood—pour it out on the ground like water.

17You will not be allowed to eat in your villages your tithe of grain, new wine, olive oil, the firstborn of your herd and flock, any votive offerings you have vowed, or your freewill and personal offerings.

18Only in the presence of the Lord your God may you eat these, in the place he chooses. This applies to you, your son, your daughter, your male and female servants, and the Levites in your villages. In that place you will rejoice before the Lord your God in all the output of your labor.

19Be careful not to overlook the Levites as long as you live in the land.

20When the Lord your God extends your borders as he said he would do and you say, “I want to eat meat just as I please,” you may do so as you wish.

21If the place he chooses to locate his name is too far for you, you may slaughter any of your herd and flock he has given you just as I have stipulated; you may eat them in your villages just as you wish.

22As you eat the gazelle or ibex, so you may eat these; the ritually impure and pure alike may eat them.

23However, by no means eat the blood, for the blood is life itself—you must not eat the life with the meat.

24You must not eat it! You must pour it out on the ground like water.

25You must not eat it so that it may go well with you and your children after you; you will be doing what is right in the Lord’s sight.

26But the holy things and votive offerings that belong to you, you must pick up and take to the place the Lord will choose.

27You must offer your burnt offerings, both meat and blood, on the altar of the Lord your God; the blood of your other sacrifices you must pour out on his altar while you eat the meat.

28Pay careful attention to all these things I am commanding you so that it may always go well with you and your children after you when you do what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God.

29When the Lord your God eliminates the nations from the place where you are headed and you dispossess them, you will settle down in their land.

30After they have been destroyed from your presence, be careful not to be ensnared like they are; do not pursue their gods and say, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do the same.”

31You must not worship the Lord your God the way they do! For everything that is abhorrent to him, everything he hates, they have done when worshiping their gods. They even burn up their sons and daughters before their gods!

32(13:1) You must be careful to do everything I am commanding you. Do not add to it or subtract from it!

1These are the statutes and the ordinances which you shall observe to do in the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess it, all the days that you live on the earth.

2You shall surely destroy all the places in which the nations that you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

3You shall break down their altars, and dash their pillars in pieces, and burn their Asherah poles with fire. You shall cut down the engraved images of their gods. You shall destroy their name out of that place.

4You shall not do so to Yahweh your God.

5But to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, you shall seek his habitation, and there you shall come.

6There you shall bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, your vows, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock.

7There you shall eat before Yahweh your God, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which Yahweh your God has blessed you.

8You shall not do all the things that we do here today, every man whatever is right in his own eyes;

9for you haven’t yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Yahweh your God gives you.

10But when you go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Yahweh your God causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies around you, so that you dwell in safety;

11then it shall happen that to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to Yahweh.

12You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God: you, and your sons, your daughters, your male servants, your female servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

13Be careful that you don’t offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see;

14but in the place which Yahweh chooses in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.

15Notwithstanding, you may kill and eat meat within all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to Yahweh your God’s blessing which he has given you. The unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle, and as of the deer.

16Only you shall not eat the blood. You shall pour it out on the earth like water.

17You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill offerings, nor the wave offering of your hand;

18but you shall eat them before Yahweh your God in the place which Yahweh your God shall choose: you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, and the Levite who is within your gates. You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God in all that you put your hand to.

19Be careful that you don’t forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land.

20When Yahweh your God enlarges your border, as he has promised you, and you say, “I want to eat meat,” because your soul desires to eat meat; you may eat meat, after all the desire of your soul.

21If the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, to put his name there, is too far from you, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock, which Yahweh has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat within your gates, after all the desire of your soul.

22Even as the gazelle and as the deer is eaten, so you shall eat of it. The unclean and the clean may eat of it alike.

23Only be sure that you don’t eat the blood; for the blood is the life. You shall not eat the life with the meat.

24You shall not eat it. You shall pour it out on the earth like water.

25You shall not eat it; that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, when you shall do that which is right in Yahweh’s eyes.

26Only your holy things which you have, and your vows, you shall take, and go to the place which Yahweh shall choose.

27You shall offer your burnt offerings, the meat and the blood, on Yahweh your God’s altar; and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on Yahweh your God’s altar; and you shall eat the meat.

28Observe and hear all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you forever, when you do that which is good and right in Yahweh your God’s eyes.

29When Yahweh your God cuts off the nations from before you, where you go in to dispossess them, and you dispossess them, and dwell in their land;

30be careful that you are not ensnared to follow them, after that they are destroyed from before you; and that you not inquire after their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.”

31You shall not do so to Yahweh your God; for every abomination to Yahweh, which he hates, they have done to their gods; for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.

32Whatever thing I command you, that you shall observe to do. You shall not add to it, nor take away from it.

Summary

God commands Israel to worship only at the place He chooses, destroying all pagan worship sites in the land.

Authorship & Background

Author: Moses. Deuteronomy is the fifth and final book of the Pentateuch, written at the end of the 40 years of wilderness wandering (approximately 1406 BC). Hebrew title: "Devarim" — "Words/Things." Greek title: "Deuteronomion" — "Second Law" (a repetition/expansion of the Law for the new generation). The book consists of Moses' farewell speeches to Israel on the plains of Moab, just before they enter the Promised Land. Moses will not enter with them — these are his final words to the nation he has led for 40 years.
Historical Context: Chapter 12 begins the specific legislation section of Deuteronomy (chapters 12-26) — the detailed laws that will govern life in the Promised Land. The first and most fundamental law concerns worship: where and how Israel is to worship God. The chapter establishes the principle of centralized worship — Israel must worship only "in the place which the LORD your God shall choose" (v.5). This stands in direct contrast to Canaanite worship, which occurred at multiple sites: high mountains, hills, and under every green tree (v.2). God demands that all pagan worship sites be utterly destroyed and that Israel worship Him only at His chosen place. The phrase "the place which the LORD shall choose" occurs repeatedly (vv.5,11,14,18,21,26) — this will ultimately be Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 7:12). The chapter also addresses a practical concern: when the central sanctuary is far away, ordinary (non-sacrificial) slaughter of animals for food is permitted locally (vv.15,20-22). But sacred offerings must go to the chosen place. The overarching principle: do not worship God the way pagans worship their gods (vv.4,30-31). God determines how He is to be worshiped — not human preference or pagan precedent.
Destroy All Pagan Worship Sites (vv.1-4): "These are the statutes and judgments" for life in the land (v.1). First command: "utterly destroy all the places" where the nations served their gods (v.2) — on high mountains, hills, under green trees. Tear down altars, break pillars, burn Asherim/ groves, hew down images, "destroy the names of them out of that place" (v.3). Then the pivotal statement: "Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God" (v.4). Do not worship God at pagan sites or in pagan ways. God is not to be worshiped wherever you please or however you please.
The Place God Will Choose (vv.5-7): "But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there" (v.5) — seek that place and come there. Bring burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, heave offerings, vows, freewill offerings, firstborn of herds and flocks (v.6). "There ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice" (v.7). Worship is not grim duty but joyful feasting in God's presence.
Not Everyone Doing What Is Right in His Own Eyes (vv.8-12): "Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes" (v.8). In the wilderness, worship was less regulated because they had not yet reached "the rest and the inheritance" (v.9). But once in the land, with rest from enemies (v.10), there will be ONE place God chooses "to cause his name to dwell there" (v.11). All offerings go there. All rejoicing happens there — sons, daughters, servants, and the Levite "that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you" (v.12). Include the Levite in your joy.
Sacrificial Worship Only at the Chosen Place (vv.13-14): "Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest" (v.13). Only "in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes" (v.14). Sacrificial worship is not a matter of personal convenience but divine appointment.
Permission for Local Slaughter (vv.15-16): "Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates" (v.15) — ordinary meat for food may be slaughtered anywhere. Both ritually clean and unclean persons may eat it — "as of the roebuck, and as of the hart" (KJV) / "as of the gazelle and as of the deer" (ESV) (v.15). It is treated as common food, not sacrifice. One prohibition: "ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water" (v.16).
Sacred Offerings Must Go to the Central Place (vv.17-19): Tithes, firstborn, vows, freewill offerings — these may NOT be eaten locally (v.17). They must be eaten "before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose" (v.18). Rejoice there with your whole household and the Levite. "Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite" (v.19) — the Levite depends on the people's faithfulness.
Expanded Permission When the Place Is Far (vv.20-28): When God enlarges the territory and the central sanctuary is far away (vv.20-21), you may slaughter locally "whatsoever thy soul lusteth after" (v.21). Eat it as you would wild game — clean and unclean alike (v.22). But absolutely do not eat the blood — "for the blood is the life" (v.23). Pour it on the earth like water (v.24). Three times emphasized: do not eat it (vv.23,24, 25). Holy things and vows must still go to the chosen place (v.26). Burnt offerings: flesh and blood on the altar (v.27). "Observe and hear all these words... that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever" (v.28).
Do Not Worship God Like the Pagans (vv.29-32): When God cuts off the nations, "take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them" (v.30). Do not ask: "How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise" (v.30). "Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God" (v.31). Why? "For every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods" (v.31). Canaanite worship included child sacrifice. Final command: "What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it" (v.32). God alone determines how He is worshiped.

Map & Geography

  • Moses speaks from the plains of Moab. "The place which the LORD your God shall choose" (v.5) — the future central sanctuary (eventually Jerusalem). Worship must be centralized, not scattered on Canaanite high places.

Commentary

  • Enduring Word (David Guzik): enduringword.com Guzik emphasizes that centralized worship was designed to prevent syncretism — if Israel worshiped at Canaanite sites, they would inevitably adopt Canaanite practices. He notes that "the place God will choose" is deliberately unnamed — God reveals it in His time (ultimately Jerusalem). He highlights v.8 as the principle violated throughout Judges.
  • Charles Spurgeon: "'Every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.' This is the religion of the natural man — worship according to personal preference. But God is not worshiped according to our taste. He is worshiped according to His word. The question is never 'What feels right to me?' but 'What has God commanded?' Self-directed worship is no worship at all — it is idolatry with a religious veneer."

Reflection

  • 1. "Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God" (v.4). God is not worshiped according to human preference or cultural trends. He determines how He is approached. Worship that borrows from the world's methods while claiming God's name is exactly what this chapter forbids.
  • 2. "Every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes" (v.8). This is the default of fallen humanity — and it is explicitly condemned. Autonomous spirituality ("I worship God in my own way") is not freedom but rebellion. God has spoken; our task is to obey, not to innovate.
  • 3. "The place which the LORD your God shall choose" (v.5). God chooses where and how He is met. Under the new covenant, that "place" is Christ (John 4:21-24; Hebrews 10:19-22). We come to God through Christ alone — not through any place or method of our own choosing.
  • 4. "Ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God" (v.12). Worship is not grim obligation but joyful celebration. And it is inclusive — family, servants, Levites. True worship brings joy and includes the vulnerable.
  • 5. "Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite" (v.19). Those who serve God full-time depend on God's people for support. Neglecting them is neglecting God's work. Care for those who minister.
  • 6. "How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise" (v.30). Curiosity about false worship leads to imitation. Do not study pagan methods to "improve" your worship of the true God. God's word, not cultural relevance, determines worship.
